Agenda Item #8
BPS Awarded Continuing District Accreditation with AdvancED SACS CASI
The Brevard County School District has been awarded continuing district accreditation by AdvancED, the parent organization of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI). The new accreditation term is through June 30, 2016. Brevard first received district accreditation in 2006.
The district hosted a Quality Assurance Review (QAR) visit on January 30-February 2, 2011. During that time, a group of educators from across the United States visited the district and met with stakeholders to determine the degree to which Brevard Public Schools meets the AdvancED accreditation standards. The QAR team recommended continued district accreditation and on June 21, 2011, the AdvancED Accreditation Commission approved the team's recommendation.
Dr. Walter Christy will present the Brevard County District Accreditation plaque to the Superintendent and School Board on behalf of AdvancED SACS CASI. Dr. Christy currently serves as chair of the AdvancED Florida Council.
Recognize Brevard Public Schools for being awarded continuing district accreditation by AdvancED SACS CASI.
