Field Trip - Rockledge High, Band and Orchestra to attend the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, DC

Rockledge High School Music Program will travel on Lynx charter busses to Washington, DC to watch the National Symphony Orchestra in concert at The Kennedy Center.  Students will plan ahead and get the necessary makeup work for the days that will be missed.  During their time in Washington, DC, they will have the opportunity to watch the orchestra in their rehearsal, have a master class with the conductor and section leaders, and watch them perform in concert.  Each student will then write a two page paper on their performance and what they learned.  When not at the performance the students will tour different sites in Washington, DC, which includes:  Smithsonian, National Monuments and Observances, Capital Building, National Archives, and the Library of Congress.  The cost of the trip will be $429.00.  All students will have the opportunity to participate in five fund raisers to help off set the cost of the trip.  This trip will be at no cost to the district and no student will be excluded due to the lack of funds.  The schedule for this trip allows the students to return on Monday evening giving the students the full week of spring break to spend with their families.  There will be planned meetings for participants to insure all parents are fully informed about trip details.  Approximately 70 Rockledge High School  Music students, one Rockledge High School teacher, string consultant and five (5) registered chaperones (three males and two (2) females) will participate.
