Learning Wheels will present two math workshops for teachers from Jupiter Elementary, Palm Bay Elementary and Riviera Elementary on February 15, 2010. This is the District Professional Development Day. The workshops will be held at Jupiter Elementary.
The K-2nd grade math workshop will be attended by 10 teachers from each participating school. The 3rd-6th grade math workshop will be attended by 15 teachers from each participating school. These are interactive, hands-on workshops full of instructional ideas to help insure student mastery of the Sunshine Standards. Each participant will receive educational games and activities to be immediately implemented in the classroom.
The cost of the workshop is $120 per teacher for a total of $9,000 for 75 participants (25 from each school). The cost includes all travel expenses and consultant fees. Title I will be supporting the staffing development cost of $3,000 for each school (Jupiter, Palm Bay, and Riviera).
Teachers will implement presented strategies in the classroom and monitor the effectiveness of strategies using teacher-made tests. Math scores from FCAT and District-required assessments will be used to measure the effectiveness of the training.
