Agenda Item #37
Oak Park Elementary School - District Security - Construction Management Services - SALES SURTAX
Oak Park Elementary School is the pilot site for the first sales surtax security (fencing) and access control project. The District engaged Havard Jolly under their continuing services contract to design the fencing and access control for the first twelve schools on the facility renewal sales surtax prioritized list. Oak Park Elementary is one of these twelve schools and the first to go to construction.
Based on the Harvard Jolly design, Project Management staff requested a proposal from Canaveral Construction under their continuing contract for construction management services. As this was the first project to go to construction, Project Management staff worked closely with District Security staff, Harvard Jolly and Canaveral Construction to deliver a project that met the District Security parameters and is within the budget for District Security in the Sales Surtax Funded Detail Report (Attachment F).
The Attachment F budget is $113,032. The proposal submitted by Canaveral Construction is not to exceed $98,406.05. The architectural expense is $7,990 and the administrative cost through June 30 is $1,215, leaving a balance of $5,421, which will be utilized for project administrative costs relating to construction and any contingency needed for the project. There is no contingency in the proposal.
Substantial completion of the work is scheduled by January 4, 2016.
This project is included in the reporting to the Independent Citizens Oversight Committee.
Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. In order to expedite the work, approval is requested as a consent agenda item without prior information.
