Melbourne High School Crew Team Trip to Chattanooga, Tennessee
The Melbourne High School Crew Team is requesting School Board approval to participate in the Head of the Hooch Regatta in Chattanooga, Tennessee, from November 5 to November 9, 2015. The team has been traveling to a fall race for the last 19 years to compete against some of the best schools in the southeast.
Approximately 24 students and 8 chaperones/coaches plan to travel in appropriate private vehicles (per Board Policy 8660) to Chattanooga, Tennessee. They plan to leave Melbourne High School at 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, and arrive at the Head of the Hooch practice site at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 6. The group will stay at the Courtyard Marriott Chattanooga I-75 for two nights. The races will be held on Saturday, November 7, and Sunday, November 8. The group will depart Chattanooga after the last race on Sunday. It is anticipated that the group will arrive back at Melbourne High School at 4:00 a.m. on Monday, November 9. One (1) day of school will be missed (Friday, November 6).
It is estimated that the cost of the trip will be $300 per student. The cost will cover transportation, hotel room for two nights, and food. There will be no cost to the District.
Approve the field trip request by the Melbourne High School Crew Team to travel to Chattanooga, Tennessee, on November 5-9, 2015, to participate in the Head of the Hooch Regatta.
