Merritt Island High School Pool Repair - Close Out Change Order #1
The District awarded ITB#15-B-044-LU Merritt Island High School Pool Repair to Intercoastal Pool & Spa Builders, Inc. in the amount of $208,232.50 on March 10, 2015.
Early in the project, it was determined that dewatering would not be practical or cost effective due to groundwater contamination in the vicinity of the project. Consequently, the scope of work was reduced for line items that could not be accomplished without dewatering (retiling swim lanes, new rails/steps and resurfacing the interior of the pool). The pool deck work required clarification and additional scope. A few minor items (flag poles, fence relocation, bleacher relocation) were also added. In summary, the net contract price, after extended negotiations with the vendor, was reduced by $28,388.48.
Although the Change Order amount is negative, School Board consideration is requested because the scope of work was significantly modified. In order to conclude the project and allow the contractor to receive final payment, approval is requested as a consent item without prior information.
Approve Change Order #1 to ITB #15-B-044-LU Merritt Island High School Pool Repair with Intercoastal Pool & Spa, Inc. reducing the contract amount from $208,232.50 to $179,844.02.
