Agenda Item #39
School Advisory Council Membership Report
The School Advisory Council (SAC) membership rosters being submitted for your approval are from the 91 schools including the alternative school sites. Each public school in Florida is required by law to establish an advisory council. The School Advisory Council is to be the sole body responsible for final decision making at the school relating to implementation of the provisions of FS.1001.42 (18) and 1008.345.
The principal and SAC chair of each school must review the membership report to ascertain that the majority of the members are persons who are not employed by the district. In addition, the School Advisory Council must be composed of the principal, a balanced number of teachers, educational support employees, high school students (elementary and middle optional), parents, and other business and community citizens who are representatives of the ethnic, racial and economic community served by the school.
The Brevard County SAC membership reports have been reviewed and comply with SS.101.42 (18) of the Florida Statues. A copy of the membership report for each school is on file in the Office of School Improvement.
Approve the School Advisory Membership Report for 91 schools including the alternative school sites.
