10-29-2019 School Board Meeting


The School Board of Brevard County, Florida met in special session on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at the Educational Services Facility, 2700 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Viera, Florida. Notice of the meeting was advertised in the Eagle newspaper on Thursday, October 17, 2019. The affidavit of publication with a copy of the ad attached is filed in the Affidavit File in the Board Office.

Minutes: 

Dr. Mullins welcomed and congratulated those administrative staff personnel in attendance and offered each some time to make comments and introductions of family, friends and colleagues who had joined them.

Board members expressed sincere appreciation to Amy Envall on the work she has done for Brevard Public Schools and wish her well.

 



Motions:

Amend the motion to approve the applicable listed administrative staff recommendations with the exception of the resignation of Amy Envall:

The reclassification/transfer of Burt Buster Clark Jr. from the position of Principal at Hoover Middle School to the position of Principal of Rockledge High School, on annual contract, effective October 30, 2019. Annual salary based on grade 29 of the Nonbargaining Salary Administration Program.

The reclassification of Catherine M. McNutt from the position of Assistant Principal (12 month) at Hoover Middle School to the position of Interim Principal at Hoover Middle School, on annual contract, effective October 30, 2019. Annual salary based on grade 27 of the Nonbargaining Salary Administration Program.

The transfer of Paloma L. Ferreira from the position of Assistant Principal (10 month) at Viera High School to the position of Assistant Principal (10 month) at Hoover Middle School, on annual contract, effective October 30, 2019.

Accept the resignation of Amy D. Envall from the position of General Counsel, effective December 1, 2019.

Terminate the employment of instructional employee, Margaret OConnor, and cancel her Professional Services Contract effective October 29, 2019. In the event Ms. OConnor makes a timely request for a hearing, authorize the School Board Attorney to transmit the hearing request to the Division of Administrative hearings for further proceedings. Authorize the School Board Attorney to retain services of counsel for the hearing process if requested.
