Agenda Item #22
School Recognition Bonuses, Elementary and Middle Schools
Past experience indicates that a significant portion of the School Recognition funds will be expended on bonuses for employees. It is the intent that this agenda item provide authorization for the 66 qualifying elementary and middle schools to pay employees bonus amounts, which will be determined jointly by their respective SACs (School Advisory Councils) and staff members. Approval of this item authorizes Human Resources to set up the bonuses for payment, based on the decisions made at each of the 66 qualifying elementary and middle schools. This process, as in the past, alleviates individual schools from having to generate separate board agenda items. This does not eliminate the obligation of the schools to provide detailed information to both Human Resources and Budgeting. Approval of this item will allow for payment of bonuses to occur at the earliest possible date. As in the past, the School Board will be kept informed as to the planned expenditures of the total funds.
A listing of the 66 qualifying elementary and middle schools, along with their respective award amounts, is attached for reference along with the same information for the 5 Charter Schools who received these dollars.
Authorize bonuses to be paid to staff members of the 66 qualifying elementary and middle schools that will be receiving School Recognition funds based on their respective school grade for 2009-10.
