Field Trip - Edgewood Jr./Sr. High Band to Washington, D.C.
Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School Band consisting of thirty (30) students and accompanied by one (1) teacher and four (4) fingerprinted chaperones is requesting approval to participate in an educational music tour to Washington, DC, March 30 through April 3, 2011. The tour will include preparation for and performance at the Heritage National Music Festival and will include feedback from nationally selected adjudicators. In addition to musical performances, itinerary arrangements are being made to visit Arlington Cemetary, the FDR, Jefferson and the Lincoln Memorials, the Reagen Center, the Smithsonian, the National Theatre, the Pentagon Memorial and Holocaust Museum.
All travel arrangements are being completed through Heritage Music Festival. Travel to and from and in Washington will be with Fabulous Coach Lines of Orlando. The group will be staying at Westfield's Marriott in Chantilly, VA.
The cost per student is $800, all inclusive and the band is working with fundraisers and area establishments to raise the money to subsidize this amount. No student will be left behind due to inability to pay. There is no charge to the district.
Approve the request for Edgewood Jr./Sr. High School Band consisting of 30 students, one teacher and four chaperones to participate in an educational music tour to Washington, DC, March 30 through April 3, 2011. No school days will be missed.
