Jackson Middle School 8th Grade Field Trip to Washington, DC (Cambridge and Quest Program)


Jackson Middle School 8th grade (Cambridge and Quest program students) will travel to Washington, DC April 10 -14, 2010.  This field trip will provide excellent opportunities for cross curricular extension studies, with emphasis on history, science, reading and learn and serve projects.  They will focus on helping students develop the attitudes and skills needed to be informed and engaged citizens.  Students will be exposed to monuments, historical landmarks and documents, and science in the making. Students will be participating in Learn and Serve Projects while in Washington, DC.   This will include 70 students, 5 teachers, and fingerprinted registered parent chaperones.  Participants will travel by charter bus provided by Travel Lynx Inc a school approved Transportation Company.  Participants will be staying at the Hilton Crystal City on the nights of April 10th, 11th, & 12th.  Students will be sleeping on the bus on Wednesday April 14th (arrival back at Jackson early Wednesday morning). Students are conducting fundraising activities from November to March to defer the individual expenses.  Estimated cost per student will be $225.00
