The School Board's Employee Assistance Provider Services Insurance Policy Renewal
The School Board's contract for employee assistance services with CCW expires on 12/31/2015. The Employee Benefits and Risk Management department engaged Willis Consulting and Brokerage to solicit bidders interested in providing these services for the district. Five carriers responded to the solicitation. CCW reduced their pricing from last year to the same rate as another bidder, but in addition to offering six face-to-face visits per year, 24/7 telephonic consultations, educational programs, and critical incident assistance they offered an additional service called “Medical Bill Saver” which is a service to help employees and their families resolve medical and dental bill disputes with carriers and providers if the bill is in excess of $400. As a result of the reduction in cost and the additional services offered by CCW, they were selected once again to perform these services on the Board’s behalf.
The new contract reduces the rate of per employee per month (PEPM) pricing from $1.18 to $0.95 per employee, which is a 19.5% reduction in rate from our previous contract. We anticipate the savings to be approximately $25,000 per year. The expected annual premium for these services is expected to be between $95,936 and $103,045 per year.
The chart shows the actual dollars paid for these benefits from fiscal year 2012 thru 2015 along with the proposed rate for 2016. This chart shows that had these rates been in effect in 2012 to present we would have saved a little more than $100,000.
Approve a three-year contract with two additional annual renewals with Corporate Care Works (CCW) to provide employee assistance provider services.
