11-17-2015 Organization of the Board and Regular School Board Meeting
Agenda Item #32

Title
2014-2015 Head Start Program Information Report

Discussion
The Office of Head Start Program Information Report (PIR) provides comprehensive data on the services, staff, children, and families served by Head Start and Early Head Start programs nationwide. All grantees and delegates are required to submit a PIR for Head Start and Early Head Start programs. The PIR is an important source of descriptive and service data for the Head Start community, their partners, Congress, and the general public. PIR data is compiled for use at federal, regional, state, and local levels. This required report must be completed annually. The PIR performance indicators highlight annual program data in specified areas of frequent interest and are not intended to serve as a full summary of program performance. The PIR serves to provide comparison data in the form of state and national averages for the specific areas of interest. Federal regulations require the PIR be reported to the local Head Start Policy Council and governing board.
