Agenda Item #39
Career Pathways Consortium of Brevard--Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act (Perkins IV)
With the passage of the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act of 2006 (Perkins IV), the federal government continues its long-standing support of career and technical education programs for the purpose of developing the nation's workforce. One of the historic shifts in Perkins IV is the requirement to develop programs of study for Career and Technical Education (CTE) students. The Florida Division of Workforce Education awarded grant funds with Section 112(a)(1) of Perkins IV to support Career Pathways Consortia.
Brevard Public Schools was awarded a FL DOE grant to establish the Career Pathways Consortium of Brevard. According to grant documents, Brevard Public Schools (BPS), fiscal agent, will subcontract with Brevard Community College (BCC) for the purpose of creating CTE Programs of Study and Advance Standing Credit Agreements.
Continuing the previous efforts of Tech Prep, the goals of the Career Pathways Consortium of Brevard are to develop, expand, and promote career pathways and CTE Programs of Study to assist students in creating their individual high school education plans and to transition from secondary to postsecondary education and into careers.
The budget year for the Career Pathways Consortium of Brevard is July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009. This will be a cost reimbursement agreement not to exceed $21,000. According to the attached subcontract agreement, BCC will accomplish the following deliverables:
