Field Trip - Jackson Middle School's Ivy League & Delta Force Program 8th Graders to Washington, D.C.
Andrew Jackson Middle School is requesting permission for their Ivy League & Delta Force Program 8th graders to travel to Washington, D.C. during the 2017-2018 spring break. The group will consist of up to 40 students and seven chaperones. The chaperones are male and female BPS teachers. This field trip is optional but provides educational and cultural experiences that can only be found in our nation's capital.
The trip cost is $465 per person and students will be fund raising throughout the year to offset expenses. THERE WILL BE NO COST TO THE DISTRICT. Included in the trip is charter bus transportation with approved vendor Chris R. Vassas, Inc., lodging for three nights, entry to the Holocaust Museum, Capitol Building, White House, Ford Theater, Arlington National Cemetery, Library of Congress and the Archives, the National Mint, Monticello, and Mount Vernon. Students will be responsible for some meals (one breakfast, lunches, and three dinners). The cost of meals will be kept under $15 by using the food court and other quick eateries.
Students will depart on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. and return to Jackson Middle School on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. No school days will be missed since this is spring break. Students will travel as a group to all events and activities and will be housed at the Capitol Skyline Hotel. A student safety plan will be implemented to ensure the safety and security of all students.
