Lockmar Elementary School - Award of Bid - HVAC - SALES SURTAX
Plant Operations and Maintenance identified additional HVAC system failures that need to be addressed. The outside air unit serving the restrooms in Building 2 is failing and air handling unit 6 serving the kitchen area is failing.
The District developed two projects based on designs prepared by DDC Engineering, Inc. under their continuing contract for mechanical engineering services. Bids were solicited from the District's continuing general contractors. The projects were bid together, but separate pricing for each project was requested. The recommended award is as follows:
Administration and permitting costs are estimated at $5,000. A District contingency budget of $5,000 is also requested. No bid alternates are recommended.
Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000.
Lockmar Elementary School is funded for summer 2019 construction in the sales surtax program. This is an out-of-sequence project that was reported to the Independent Citizens Oversight Committee in April and June 2017.
Approve the total project budget in an amount not to exceed $121,358.80.
Award Building 2 HVAC modifications to Heard Construction, Inc., the low bidder in the amount of $30,839.80.
Award replacement of air handling unit 6 serving the kitchen to Canaveral Construction, Inc., the low bidder in the amount of $80,519.00.
