Agenda Item #32
Pinewood Elementary School - Construction Management Services - Emergency Soffit Repair
Hurricane Matthew damaged the soffit at the front of Pinewood Elementary School. Shortly after the storm, the District engaged Droor & Associates under their continuing contract for structural engineering services to evaluate the damage and design a repair solution.
Canaveral Construction, Inc. has submitted a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) under their continuing services construction management contract in an amount not to exceed $64,133 based on initial coordination with the designer. Because the soffit is open, this is considered an emergency and will be done as soon as the design is complete. Board action is requested to ratify the emergency purchase order because the amount exceeds $50,000.
The project is funded through Plant Operations and Maintenance in order to ensure all storm-related repairs are funded from the same source to simplify FEMA and/or insurance reimbursement as applicable.
Pinewood Elementary is also an upcoming sales surtax project that is currently in design and preconstruction pricing. There is a minor element of the surtax scope of work relating to the soffit that may be done as a change order to this project, while the contractor is on site.
Approve the total project construction budget in an amount not to exceed $67,133.
