E-Rate Funding Year 14 (2011-2012) Request for Services
Brevard Public Schools is currently requesting competitive services for E-Rate Funding Year 14. The E-Rate funding year is from July 01, 2011 – June 30, 2012. The submission deadline, currently not Federally published, is estimated to be February 24, 2011. The timeline is based on previous information from filing year's calendars. Brevard Public School's application submission will be reviewed and approved by the Schools and Libraries Division (SLD). Examples of types of eligible services in which discounts apply are listed in the attached documentation. District staff is recommending approvals for: • Priority 1 Telecommunications and Internet Access Services • Priority 2 Internal Connections and Basic Maintenance of Internal Connections Priority 1 Telecommunications and Internet Access Services Priority 1 eligible services weighted discount level of the district as a whole is estimated to be approximately 60%. The actual discount eligibility percentage will be determined by the State's publication of the official free and reduced lunch data. The release of the data typically occurs by the end of January annually. The SLD calculates the weighted average utilizing the attached discount matrix. Priority 2 Internal Connections and Basic Maintenance of Internal Connections Priority 2 eligible services weighted discount level are based on each individual school’s free and reduced lunch data which the SLD approves based on the remaining funds after Priority 1 services have been satisfied. District staff estimates this discount level to be approximately 80% for E-Rate Funding Year 14. Approximately 40 of 86 Brevard Public Schools may be eligible for Priority 2 services. Priority 2 Internal Connections are in direct support of both the Strategic Plan 2.14 and Technology Plan 1.4.1 goals (Student wireless capacity). Internal Connections can be applied for each school two times out of a five year span. No schools have had application made in the last five years. Basic Maintenance of Internal Connections can be applied for each school every year. Upon SLD approval, a Board Resolutions will be presented after May 2011 for a Board Resolution prior to receiving any discounts or reimbursements on eligible services.
