Field Trip - Rockledge High Band - Heritage Music Competition in Washington, DC
Rockledge High School Music Program will travel on charter buses to Washington, DC for a music performance/competition. Student will plan ahead and get the necessary make-up work for the day that will be missed. During the music festival, the band will perform in front of college adjudicators for ratings and competition, observe the different high school performing groups, and analyze each group musically. When not performing the students will tour different sites in Washington, DC. This will include sightseeing of all memorials, monuments and museums. There will also be an evening guided tour of the Nation's Capital. Each student will also get the opportunity to have access to the Holocaust Museum. The cost per student will be $362. Fund raising will be done through the band boosters; the students/parents have signed an agreement that they would be responsible for their own fees. No student will be denied the ability to participate if they are unable to pay. (If there are students that are unable to pay, the boosters will assist them.) THERE WILL BE NO COST TO THE DISTRICT.
Approve the request for approximately 80 Rockledge High School music students, two (2) Rockledge High School teachers, string consultant and seven (7) registered chaperones (both male and female) to attend the Heritage Music Competition in Washington, DC on March 24-28, 2010. Students will miss two (2) days of school.
