Agenda Item #37
Titusville High School Buildings 12 and 19 Roof Design - SALES SURTAX
Plant Operations and Maintenance staff has identified the roofs on Buildings 12 and 19 at Titusville High School as a critical facility renewal need.
The project is funded in the Sales Surtax Detailed Report (Attachment F) for Titusville High School. However, the school is not scheduled until year 5 of the sales surtax program. Due to the failing roof system, Project Management staff will be reporting the urgency of the roof renewal to the Independent Citizens Oversight Committee (ICOC) at their December 16, 2015 meeting and will be moving forward with design as an out-of-sequence project. This is one of several failing facility renewal components that will be addressed out of sequence.
Gale Associates, Inc. has submitted a design proposal under their continuing contract for roof design services in an amount not to exceed $54,930. The design phase fee is $36,160; the bid phase fee is $2,270 and the construction phase fee is $16,500. The initial purchase order will be issued in the amount of $38,430 for the design and bid phases. A purchase order for the construction phase services will be issued at a later date.
Staff will be executing this project through one of the District's construction management continuing services contracts.
Staff administrative support budget in the amount of $3,000 is also requested.
Board approval is required for purchase orders over $50,000. Although the initial purchase order to Gale Associates, Inc. will be under $50,000, their professional services contract, including construction services, exceeds $50,000. In order to expedite the work, approval is requested as a consent item without prior information.
