Andrew Jackson Middle School Field Trip to Washington, DC
Andrew Jackson Middle School is requesting approval to conduct a field trip on March 24 - March 28, 2012 to Washington, DC. Washington, DC will provide excellent opportunities for cross-curricular extension studies, with an emphasis on history, sciences, and reading. Teachers will focus on helping students develop the attitudes and skills needed to be informed and engaged citizens. Students will be exposed to guided tours at the U.S. Capitol Building, The Library of Congress, the Holocaust Museum, and possibly the White House. This field trip will consist of 48 students, two teachers and fingerprinted registered parent chaperones. Participants will travel by charter bus provided by Travel Lynx. No school days will be missed. Cost per student is $235 in which fundraising efforts are being held to reduce the cost per student.
