Agenda Item #38
Preconstruction Services for DeLaura Middle School HVAC Replacement - Phase 2
On March 3, 2014 the School Board approved a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for Phase 1 of the DeLaura MS HVAC Replacement Project submitted by Amodie Engineering & Construction under their Continuing Contract for MEP Design/Build Services. Phase 1 was successfully completed during the 2014 summer break and is currently in the closeout phase.
Unfortunately, due to the death of Mr. Amodie in a traffic accident, Amodie Engineering & Construction is no longer capable of performing Phase 2 of the project.
Canaveral Construction Company, Inc. has agreed to perform Preconstruction Services for Phase 2 of the project under their Continuing Contract for Design/Build Services for an amount Not-to Exceed $66,599.60. Hanson Engineering, the prime MEP designer for the project under Amodie Engineering, has agreed to modify the existing documents to address field conditions and become the Engineer of Record for Phase 2 under a design/build contract with Canaveral Construction. Hanson's costs are included in Canaveral's Not-to Exceed amount.
Adequate funding has been identified and budgeted in the FY2014-15 Capital Budget for the Phase 2 Preconstruction Services and the Owner Direct Purchase of long-lead equipment. Sales surtax funds will be used for the balance of the Phase 2 costs. Board approval will be requested for approval of the Owner Direct Purchase costs and the remaining Phase 2 costs when those costs are determined.
Board approval is required for Purchase Orders over $25,000. In order to expedite the work, approval is requested as a consent item without previous information.
