 Information Requests

  • Representative Fine asked how many students in grades K-12 are there in Brevard?
  • Representative Fine asked about minutes in a student's day.  He wanted to know how many minutes were allocated to what subjects during the day and of those minutes which are mandated by legislation?

There was discussion between the Board and Legislators regarding teacher evaluations and performance pay, technology mandates that need funding, the accountability system, local control, volunteers, as well as Federally Connected Dollars.

There was agreement on many issues and suggestions on how best to proceed.  It was stressed that quantifying data must be kept and given in order to show need and/or value.  The focus should be in the value of the process and strategy, not the outcome. We need to strive to maximize each student's potential. The District needs to be prepared with a plan; be able to defend that plan and work with our lobbying firm to be the most productive.
